Definition: A person who speaks to someone or to an audience. In poetry a speaker is the person who wrote the poem.
Example: When someone walks onto a stage and starts to talk about something or someone. They could also be giving a lecture or reading something from a passage.
Significance: Speakers are important in poetry because the speakers set the tone of the poem. They are the ones who says the poem and without the speaker there is no poem to be read.
